“Why an Online Presence is good for your Business” – Etisalat Nigeria tells SMEs at CONCOM 2015
Nigeria’s innovative telecommunications company, Etisalat, has implored Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups in the country to enthusiastically adopt the electronic commerce model of business to help improve their business value and processes.
Speaking on ‘Role of Mobile Penetration in Online Commerce‘ at the recent Webmall Connect Commerce Conference 2015, Head of Enterprise Marketing, Etisalat Nigeria, Bidemi Ladipo espoused the benefits businesses stand to gain from having an online presence as it is cost effective and faster way to increase their reach.
Ladipo backed the above statement up with facts and figures, stating that there are over 150 million active GSM lines in Nigeria, 89 million of which use the internet with 75 percent of these having access to the internet via mobile devices. “Having your businesses on the digital space offers you lots of advantage; it reduces your overhead and increases your visibility and reach. At Etisalat, we are committed to offering quality of service both in voice and data, and to continuously provide solutions that help enterprises and start-ups grow and sustainable“, he quipped.
Webmalls’ Managing Director, Wole Faroun on the panel discussion talked about the numerous opportunities that abound on the digital space for SME’s, while pointing out that though the e-commerce industry in Nigeria has gained a lot of ground in the past 3 years, it has not yet reached it’s full potential.
Also present at the event was Jola Aderemi-Makinde, Head, Business Development, Google Nigeria “Our focus now is to help local businesses succeed online. There are different tools available to SMEs for them to achieve their business objectives. Startups and SMEs should take advantage of these tools to expand their businesses“, she noted.
