    Hubris… So Sad!

  • charles February 4, 2016 at 3:53 pm

We grew up seeing the Nigerian military as demi-gods, who should be feared…Some of my friends back then wanted to join the Army not to “serve their fatherland”, but to gain “respect, fear & somewhat invincibility” from Nigerians…Comedians crack jokes about how their slaps deafen citizens and we all laugh about it…So this? I am not surprised.
    But it’s very pathetic

  • Ebere February 4, 2016 at 3:53 pm

I heard the cameraman say “Do you think your blood is useful”? Okay what is the difference between Boko Haram and the Nigerian army that suppose to protect the people of Nigeria (i.e Our useful blood)???????Nigeria has a long way to go……

    • Ides of March February 4, 2016 at 6:43 pm

Exactly!! I see no difference, different sides, same coin. Boko-in-training! I’m so ticked off right now!!

  • olah February 4, 2016 at 4:05 pm

  • whocares February 4, 2016 at 4:14 pm

eeeh olorun gbakoso. gods have mercy. What is this? They should have found a bigger man now. A man as big as Shaq, let’s see the power that will come over them then. stupid goats. Is there even a psychological test before people join the military or can every tom, dick and harriet just join? If that is so, it needs to change. We all know that if you put a uniform on a person with psychological issues the result is never good (Zimbardo’s stamford prison experiment anyone
Speaking of abuse of power; the other day I was talking to one of my friends and she told me that during NYSC you might be asked by one of the soldier people to kneel in the sun and beaten etc. I told her I was not going to do it if it came to that and she laughed at me. She did not get it. What gives any person the right to torture another person if no concrete offence has been committed? What will I say came over me that I will be kneeling down? or was she lying to me? The girl lies a lot sha. lol.

    • o February 4, 2016 at 4:55 pm

Lol. During my NYSC in 2008, one day they asked everyone to kneel down as punishment. Suddenly it started raining. We all thought they would let us go because of that. They didn’t. Ppl now started grumbling. They now said sebi in the NYSC anthem we sing everyday, a line says “under the sun and in the rain, with dedication and selflessness”… lol. Was I shocked or was I shocked??!! So brace yourself oo, anything can happen.

    • Olu February 4, 2016 at 5:26 pm

      @whocares

In Nigeria, yes you will..except you want to die or be handicapped for life. Even if your parents are connected, the military/police animals can only be deal with later..not at that point.

Our country is a jungle….no need to lie about it in the name of false patriotism.

  • Missy J February 4, 2016 at 4:32 pm

Nigerian Defence Academy, Please when you find them just do Nigerians a favour by sending them to war front against Boko Haram.

  • Clatus February 4, 2016 at 4:59 pm

Ordinary Tama 1 cadets “Jobing” civilians. I guess the uniform is “shacking” them. lol
NDA is very competitive to get in. A pity some of them are going to have to take the walk because poor decision making skills. In a way, I feel sad for them because the are just kids (17 to 20 yrs old max).

But on the real though, homegirl needs to sharpen her vocabulary.
    Atrocious!!!

  • Anonymous February 4, 2016 at 5:21 pm

If NDA no deal with this so-called cadets, I will disappointed.

  • semesee February 4, 2016 at 5:22 pm

  • Wale February 4, 2016 at 5:24 pm

BN, how come you guys aren’t saying anything about the woman that allegedly stabbed her husband in Ibadan? If it was the other way round, would you guys keep silent?

    • o February 4, 2016 at 8:41 pm

I was going to drop a comment on this. When Dr Hestia Thomas died from alleged DV, there was a post on it. No life is more important than the other…. Btw, nothing else has been heard abt Dr Hestia’s case oo…

  • Bimbo February 4, 2016 at 6:34 pm

The army will not do anything about it. Once the noise quiets dow. They are just forming investigation. They have no problem with cadets or officers terrorising civilians! As far as they are concerned being able to torture you is a small price to pay for protecting your territorial integrity. Was chatting with a friend from school who joined the army and he told me that that is their aggressive training being displayed and as far as he was concerne.

  • Tee February 4, 2016 at 7:18 pm

This is barbaric these heartless animals must be identified and dishonorably discharged from the Army, they are a disgrace to the Nigerian Army, watching this video made me sic, these are animals in uniform, a woman she a disgrace to womanhood, just for complementing you, you torture him like this. All of them and the boys should be severely dealt with, i can imagine what they will do when they finish the course. i hope they get a good lawyer. am so disgusted.

  • GANNY OGUNSHAKIN February 4, 2016 at 7:42 pm

Only in Nigeria this type of behavior is tolerated. The Nigerian Military have an image problem. The sooner they realize this the better it is. Some members of the Nigerian Military believe they are superior to the rest of the population. Most Nigerians allowed themselves to be treated like a second class citizens by this mad dogs. Being in the Military is just like doing any other jobs. Being in the Military does not give you the license to abuse/brutallise your fellow Nigerians Period. Make these fools a bitter examples to others in the Nigerian Military. Expel them from the defense academy. Fellow Nigerians stand up for your rights. Fight back to defend yourselves. The only solution to this madness. A word is enough for the wise. I’ m just saying.

  • Drkite February 4, 2016 at 8:41 pm

Uhhh! I find this cadets aggressive domination very sexy.

  • ForTheRightsOfMen February 4, 2016 at 9:13 pm

    I don’t get it.

    • Micliq. Com February 4, 2016 at 11:24 pm

  • Ada February 4, 2016 at 10:54 pm

Sexy indeed! She is angry because he lied

  • Micliq. Com February 4, 2016 at 11:21 pm

I just can say but those military guys see us like rats and bats, God will help us

  • adelegirl February 5, 2016 at 9:03 am

These ones are just mere cadets o yet they are behaving like beasts already. Just imagine the nonsense. That being said, I think I understand the reason behind this vile action. They probably felt they had to show their toughness because they are females in a field that is largely dominated by men. I mean, they probably felt slighted that he “objectified” them by complimenting their beauty and decided to “show him pepper for the insult”. The female cadets were probably thinking that the guy would not have complimented their male colleague or spoken to them in such a casual manner, so they felt they had to set him in his place and probably prevent even their male colleagues from perceiving them as mere weak females..

    • bruno February 5, 2016 at 9:49 am

yes, blame the victim of this brutal violence.
continue making excuses for the abusers cause they are women. ewu

      • adelegirl February 5, 2016 at 12:11 pm

Don’t be silly Bruno. I condemned their actions. I am only speculating on their rationale for an action that ought to be typically out of character. I am not saying that the dude objectified them – I am guessing that is what they felt. My putting the word in quotes, when this was not stated in the post, should have told you something about the import of me using that word. You show your lack of depth and articulation by easily degenerating into name calling. Don’t start that nonsense with me inugo?

    • ‘Deola February 5, 2016 at 10:14 am

Objectification, no be am? I see.

In sum, the poor female cadets were objectified and in response bloodied the objectifying civilian male to show their male counterparts they weren’t weaklings .

I kinda like your thoughts there, adelegirl.

  • Funny February 5, 2016 at 10:16 am

lol if youre asked to kneel down in camp, trust me girl you have to kneel down, except you have jazz and can disappear on the spot. And I am not even joking. All these things you are saying is English boo. You wont refuse to do it by explaining torture and abuse of power and somebody will let you go

  • ogamazi February 5, 2016 at 11:31 am

The biggest lie is that, that video was in 2014. @NDA u lie.

  • Eze chukwuemeka February 5, 2016 at 12:41 pm

Its a pity to be an Officer of the Nigerian Army n u, the very lady don’t know what n how it feels n what it takes to be 1. its a simple compliment n u turn it to an offence when you are suppose to be happy and say “Thank you” but the reverse was the case. There are pretty lady out there looking out for a man to say Hi but no avail. its not your fault its about the corruption in the country when one will suffer to purchase the military form n at d end of d day they will shortlist a nonentity as a successful candidate. the Nigerian Army (NA) has to relief her of her job 2serve as a WARNING to others. gone are the days when they are brained n highly behaved but now everything about them is deteriorating. I need the PRO of the Nigerian army and the disciplinary committee to do something about this to serve as a warning to such a lady animal and his cohorts….

    • nwanyi na aga aga February 5, 2016 at 4:43 pm

  • Ghost of Sparta February 7, 2016 at 7:26 am

Just look at the small rats, already feeling like they control the world. Honestly, the reason for all these things is the fact that Nigerians compared to other Africans tolerate alot of rubbish. They should go and try dis crap with a civilian in Mogadishu or Rwanda and see how valuable their blood really is to a civilian mob.

  • lol February 7, 2016 at 6:13 pm

As much as I am anti-violence, Nigerian men can be very disrespectful with their “compliments”. You see an army official and you go “beautiful”, “Sexy” etc. It actually is very wrong. CATCALLS ARE NOT COMPLIMENTS. If you see a woman you like and you’re confident enough, walk up to her and talk to her respectfully. Even then she has the right to accept or turn you down. Shouting “compliments” at any woman, talk more an army official is very wrong.

I can testify first hand that uniformed men in Nigeria can be unnecessarily brutal but that does not take from the fact that they DESERVE respect from civilians. Have you seen how american civilians treat their army? Like demi-gods. Because they’re appreciative of the sacrifices they make.
So I’m saying respect yourself, respect military men AND WOMEN and maybe you’d avoid these situations.

Still, abuse of power is wrong and should be kicked against. There are better ways to “prove a point” if absolutely necessary.

    • Kola S February 8, 2016 at 2:25 pm

The victim has given an interview to Channels TV and narrated his side of the story. He didn’t compliment or even catcall her. They were already beating him for something else when the female cadet asked him if she was beautiful or ugly. Clearly no matter the answer he gave, she was going to beat him some more.
