The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC is set to declare a day nationwide strike in protest against the ongoing fuel scarcity, government’s insistence to go on with the electricity tariff hike, and the economic hardships faced by Nigerians in the present administration.

Speaking at the NLC Central Working Committee meeting in Abuja, human rights lawyers, Femi Falana (SAN) said, “We didn’t vote change for agony; we didn’t vote change for tyranny. We fully endorse NLC resolutions for strike.”

The NLC President, Ayuba Wabba also accused the present administration of failing in the promises it made to the citizens. He said that the government cannot disobey the court order that charged the government to return to the old electricity tariff and not expect opposition from labour.

The Union also said that it will protest against the anti-labour laws to be passed by Governor El-rufai of Kaduna state.
