It seems like it has been a long while since our last BN Red Carpet Fab. If we are not mistaken, it was the glorious Face of Africa 2010 Finale which was held in Lagos, Nigeria.
Now we are back in Lagos, coincidentally the MBGN 2010 Finale was also held at the same venue, the new event centre at the Eko Hotels & Suites. Will it keep up the style momentum?
Scroll down to find out!

At the 2010 MBGN, the trend was full on glam! Lots of evening gowns, short sparkly dresses, metallic hues and bright colours. Some it wrong by trying too hard, some guests got it right and looked fab. Keep reading..let’s go there!

Not many people can pull off wearing a body con dress in a bright colour but up-and-coming singer, ChiDynma does just that in this long purple bandage dress. ChiDynma performed the National Anthem at the event so added extra elements of drama such as bright red lipstick, a curly faux-hawk and dramatic lashes to amp up her outfit even more for the stage.

We are excited! Why? We’ve always loved Omowunmi Akinnifesi‘s style but have been hoping that she would shed some of the beauty queen “prim and properness” on the red carpet. Omowunmi gets it right in this beautiful Jewel by Lisa dress, the dress has a sexy lace top with a dipped back and sequined mini-peplum by the waist, it then flares out with a full ankara skirted bottom. We love this even more cause she ditches her usual shoulder-length curls for a modern updo. Thumbs up!

It was a beauty queen parade on the MBGN 2010 red carpet. The 2 personas of Munachi Abii met on the red carpet – we got the rockette rapper chick from her two-toned half shaved hair and we got the beauty queen from her gold and black halter neck evening dress which matched the colours of her hair. We like this cause its a representation of Muna’s unique style. We could have liked a smile to brighten up the look though!

MBGN Co-Host Jasmine Murray-Bruce looked beautiful on the red carpet in a purple evening gown. Her strapless dress was embellished with crystals and the ruffled train added even more omph to the look.

Yvonne Ekwere, the host of Silverbird’s popular entertainment show “E-Weekly” was dressed in a bright pink asymmetrical evening dress. With a  bejeweled shoulder clasp, sheer top panel and sweetheart neckline, the dress stood out on the red carpet. Her hair was also dramatic, so were the earrings.

As we mentioned earlier, almost all the recent beauty queens were out on the red carpet. MBGN 2002 Chinenye Ochuba-Akinlade made per first public appearance in  a while at the event. We have to give her kudos ’cause she is a new mum and still looks svelte and pretty in her thin-strapped evening dress.

House of Nwocha designer, Ugonna Omeruo is known for her bold red carpet style. Ugonna is not afraid of bright colours, bold shapes and statement accessories. We got all the elements of her trademark look at MBGN. She was in sharp-shouldered knee-length jewel green dress paired with gold and green accessories.

Now that she has made a name for herself as an image and PR consultant, many forget that Ifeoma Williams was once a beauty queen. She was Miss Lux several years ago and has lost none of her shine. She kept things simple but modern in a draped black jumpsuit.

Hmm, that was what we said when we spotted this look on the red carpet. We can count on one hand the number of people who would brave this look on the red carpet. This backless halter sheath dress is not for the fainthearted. She pulls it off though.

We like this ivory evening dress. Simple with a great fit.

What did we say? Yup. Beauty Queen parade. We really loved Agbani’s look in a draped purple dress which we’ve actually spotted on the international red carpet. The look and colour fits her frame.

MBGN 2009, Glory Chukwu saved the best for last. This is arguably the best red carpet look she has delivered all through her reign. The embellished golden draped dress is fitting for her farewell.

MBGN Universe 2008, Stephanie Oforka was bright and bold in her strapless yellow dress. Her look was accessorized with a red belt and long flowing locks.

STV Presenter & News Anchor Adaure Achumba glowed in her bronze ruffled dress. Matching accessories and red lips completed the look.

Renny Akande was dressed in red babydoll  Jewel by Lisa dress. She paired the dress with black strappy sandals.

BellaNaija.com Features Editor, Glory Edozien looked beautiful in a layered pink empire waist dress. The dress was layered with a delicate black overlay and embellished with butterfly motifs. We love the swept up hair and gold accessories.

Mr Nigeria winner and Mr World runner-up, Kenneth Okolie along with Mr. Nigeria runner up were among the few men on the MBGN 2010 Red Carpet. They were both dressed in black tuxes.
