BN Hot Topic: Happy April Fool’s Day!
Yes, it’s that time of year again when we can all play elaborate pranks on our friends, family and colleagues.
Usually I pride myself on my ability to spot a prank a mile away. However, today I will freely admit that I was well and truly “punked” by none other than Jayne Usen and Abidemi Duro of Next newspapers.
There I was going through the morning paper, casually flipping through the printed pages when I spotted the headline “D’banj leaves Mo’Hits”! My eyes widened with surprise and I literally stopped breathing as I read each line two at a time! While my eyes were fixed on the contents of the page, my hands were busy searching for my phone attempting to call Uche Eze to discuss the accuracy of the story and my mind was mentally calculating it’s enormity on the Nigerian entertainment scene.
The newspaper duo, explained that D’banj had made this announcement late yesterday night and had already moved to a new label Koko Music where he would be releasing his new album which would include a single featuring Rihanna. Then, just as I was about to hit the ‘call’ button on my phone, I read the last sentence on the page, Happy April Fool’s Day!
How annoying!
So what about you guys? Have you been the victim of any elaborate pranks or are you yourself the scam artists behind this April foolery type jokes? Has there been any April fool joke that has gone one step too far? What do you think about April fools day in general, just good fun or a waste of precious time?
Let’s fool around!
