Nigerian nominees 2Face Idibia and D’banj beat their counterparts from Ghana, South Africa, Congo DR and Benin to emerge as joint winners of the Best International Act (Africa) award at the 2011 BET Awards which took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California last night.

Based on comments from BellaNaija.com readers; 2Face and D’banj were the top contenders for the award and indeed predictions proved to be accurate.

The awards were handed to the stars at the event; however, the Best International Act (Africa) award segment was not televised.
BN hopes that this segment is added to the televised portion of the ceremony next year. We are also looking forward to collaborative on-stage performances with African artistes alongside African-American acts at future events.

In other BET Awards news, Tinie Tempah won the Best International Act (UK) award. Tinie Tempah’s (Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu) parents are Nigerian and he recently performed at the 2011 ARISE Magazine Fashion Week in Lagos.
Congrats to the stars! We are proud of you.
