After living away from Nigeria for 19 years, Kehinde Oniru could never have guessed that she would meet “the one” so soon after moving back home. She had planned to enjoy a fun girl’s night out with a close friend filled with great food and fun conversation. At the end of the day, she got that and much more! Her friend changed the venue of their meeting to Hamptons Suites Boutique Hotel and when Kehinde stepped into the lounge area, she felt right at home. That night she had a great time as she met Ademola Adewole. Though Demola hardly said a word that night, 2 weeks later, he called her friend and asked for her number. Demola called Kehinde to ask her on a date. They had dinner, they chatted and then went dancing and had an amazing time. The rest as they say is history…

In October 2010, Kehinde & Demola went to Dubai on holiday – while they were there, she asked him about the plans for that day and he encouraged her to go shopping at the Dubai Mall and told her that they would go on a tour/for dinner at the Burj Khalifah later that night. Kehinde remembers thinking “why is he not coming…”; Little did she know that while she was off shopping, her man had gone to look for the perfect engagement ring! Later that night, as they looked down at the fountain show from the lofty heights of the Burj Khalifah, a photographer asked to take a photo of them and that instant, as Kehinde turned around, Demola was on bended knee asking her to be his wife – she said “Yes!”

Kehinde & Demola’s traditional engagement took place on the 6th of May 2011 at the Palace Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru in Oniru Estate – Lagos. Kehinde looked so gorgeous in her gold and ivory aso-oke. Her golden gele was beautifully embellished and gave her a royal look while Demola matched her light gold lace agbada and fila paired accessorized with coral beads. All around, there were dashes of red, white and burgundy – the official colours of the event. This festive family gathering was the perfect preamble to Kenni & Demola’s white wedding which took place at the KFA Events Centre on Sunday 8th May 2011.

Love was in the air as Kehinde & Demola said “I Do” in the presence of their friends and family. At their intimate wedding ceremony which was officiated by Pastor Sam Okoro of the Guiding Light Assembly, you could definitely feel the love and commitment that the couple share. Kehinde was simply stunning her white trumpet shaped dress, the lace sleeves, lace-edged veil and her glittering sapphire earrings formed part of a showstopping bridal look. Demola was dapper in his grey suited paired with a blue tie. Kehinde & Demola’s reception was an elegent event with lush white draping spiced up with touches of Tiffany Blue and gunmetal silver. Guests had their fill of food and drinks as they danced and enjoyed this beautiful and joyous occasion.

In terms of advice for young couples, Kehinde and Demola have this to share, “Ensure you marry your friend. Attend marriage counseling, it is really important to have a 3rd party (e.g. A Pastor) counsel you and place the fear of the lord in you to let you know the true meaning of marriage. It is a strong union. Many younger folks are just jumping into it for the wrong reasons. I truly love this man, he is not only my soulmate but my best friend and he feels the same. We are not perfect and we have had challenges in our relationships but the most important thing is to ensure and realise that you can’t change anyone so don’t try. Marriage is a 3 fold cord. The God is the 1st, The man is the head and the Woman is the 3rd. Stay grounded and as long as you place God 1st, all will be well.

BN wishes Kehinde & Demola a blessed and joyful life together. May each day be more blessed and more special than the day before.
