ARISE Made in Africa – Spring 2012: Asibelua presents “African Kaleidoscope”

Asibelua opened the ARISE Made in Africa Spring 2012 Collective Show at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York on Thursday night. It was definitely a strong way to kick off the show as model after model strutted down the runway in a mix of contrasting prints – houndstooth and tartan prints met animal prints while ankara-esque prints on silk met tie-dye prints. You could “feel” the luxury of the garments as the lush fabrics floated effortlessly as the models moved.

The silhouettes of the pieces was consistent with what we had seen all week at fashion week, classic streamlined shapes such as the shifts and skinny pants and then the versatile dresses that will be a welcome addition to any cosmopolitan woman’s wardrobe. This was the first runway show for Fati Asibelua’s new line – Asibelua – we endorse that this was a vibrant beginning and apt introduction of the Asibelua brand to the world.
