It is hard to believe that Joke Silva has achieved so many remarkable milestones at just 50 but indeed she has! The Nigerian stage and movie actress celebrated her 50th birthday on Thursday, 29th September 2011.
It was a very special day for the iconic actress as she also renewed her marital vows with her husband, legendary Nigerian actor, Olu Jacobs.

The vow renewal was a “surprise” as it has been planned for the most part by her husband – Olu Jacobs, a close friend and their pastor, Tony Rapu. Joke was informed of the vow renewal at the last stages of the planning process and loved the idea as well. The result was an emotional and uplifting celebration of love and life.

The vow renewal and birthday celebration took place at the Freedom Park in Lagos. Friends, family and well-wishers who have been inspired by the Nigerian icon over the years were there to celebrate this milestone. The “special guest” of the day was the couple’s youngest son who walked his mum down the aisle. Their older son who is a university student, unfortunately missed the event due to an important exam at school.

Guests at the event included many celebrities and public figures including Yinka Davies, Rita Dominic (who named her film company – the Audrey Silva company after her role model, Joke Silva), Fola Adeola, Adesuwa Onyenokwe of TW Magazine, Kate Henshaw-Nuttall and many others.
