Pioneer Wedding Photographer Jide Alakija in partnership with Centre for Contemporary Art Lagos cordially invite you to Jide’s first solo exhibition ” Owambe, Aso-Ebi and the Politics of Dress”

Jide Alakija’s exhibition will highlight the disparate social and cultural experiences of his environment through 130 photographic images. His images capture the quintessential characteristic of Nigerian traditional weddings – the wearing of the Aso-Ebi here and abroad.

The idea of the exhibition was drawn from Aso-ebi (cloth of the family or kin) which is traditionally worn by close family members as a form of identification, of belonging to a group.

Th exhibition also emphasizes the cultural significance of this form of dressing and highlights the creative ingenuity of the head ties.

Come this Saturday and experience photography as never before.

The exhibition will run from Monday 31st October 2011- Saturday 3rd December 2011

Date: Saturday 29th October 2011
