Farewell Oni! The Final 4 Contestants stand on Glo Naija Sings – Who Will You Vote For This Week?

Published

 on

This week on Glo Naija Sings, the 5 contestants were asked to sing an International R&B song and a Naija Classic.

The ever cheerful host Darey looked in his stylish ensemble, as he announced the contestants that would be leaving the show. After the criticism she received from the judges last week, it seems as though the voting public agreed as we said goodbye to the lovely Oni.

Goodbye Oni

Oni’s Swan Song
Oni says goodbye by singing Whitney Houston’s “Didn’t We Almost Have It All”

Mattade
1st Song: Chris Brown – She Ain’t You
Mattade chose to perform Chris Brown’s hit single She Ain’t You, although it was quite a solid performance, we wish he had stepped up the tempo a little bit and added some more excitement to the mellow track.

2nd Song: P-Square – No One Like You
We love this song and Mattade did a good job with his rendition. Once again, we wish the performance had a little bit more excitement infused into it.

Vicky
1st Song: Mary J Blige – Be Without You
When Naija’s sweet heart Vicky came on stage, she dazzled everyone with her Nicki Minaj inspired hairstyle and sequined gold top paired with a printed mini skirt. Then when she began to sing her rendition of Mary J Blige’s chart topping song she left us breathless as we were in total awe of her performance from start to finish, we definitely can’t “Be Without You” Vicky.
Well done!

2nd Song: Omawumi – In The Music
Watch Out Omawumi! Someone named Vicky on Glo Naija Sings is going to give you a run for your money, all we can say is You Go Girl! She was an all rounder from good use of stage to the stunning outfit to unbelievable vocals.

Tee Songz
1st Song:
Neyo – Miss Independent
The judges seemed to like Tee Songz’s performance but we are not sure if this was the right song for him as he struggled with the lyrics and should have made better use of the stage. That said, Tee Songz is charismatic and he definitely had the studio audience rooting for him.

2nd Song: Darey – Sisi Eko
Tee Songz rocked this song, all the “Sisi Ekos” in the house couldn’t help but pay attention to this budding new star.He improved immensely compared to his first song. One wonders if Tee Songz was actually singing to a particular “Sisi Eko”(Lagos Lady) in the audience because his rendition of host Darey’s hit song was direct and emotional.

Christian
1st Song: Lionel Richie – Angel
Christian did try his best even though it wasn’t good enough. He needs to work on his vocals so as to project it in the best possible way. We liked his Banky-Wesque outfit though.

2nd Song: 2 Face – True Love
This song is another one of our all-time-favourites! Christian delivered a good performance, however, we will like to see a better, refined & simply superb Christian perform next week.

Judges

Naeto C
“10 over 10” music star Naeto C was this week’s guest judge and immediately pointed out his best and worst. On Naeto’s “NO list”, Mattade held the crown as he didn’t impress him at all. According to Naeto, Mattade picked two wrong songs. On his “YES List”, it was definitely Tee Songz, he remarked that Tee Songz knew how to charm the audience and express himself.

Onyeka Onwenu
Nigeria’s lady of songs Onyeka Onwenu noted that Tee Songz was superb and Vicky was special! The not-so-lucky Mattade was told that his vocal strength was not displayed during her performance but she did manage to bring a smile to his face when she told him he improved during his 2nd performance. Onyeka also pointed out that Christian’s voice was too low during both performances.

Olisa Adibua
The audience kept on laughing when judge Olisa said Mattade either must have a large family or a large village as he wondered why he was still in this competition. Olisa remarked that he tried to look for the positive aspect of his performance but there were none! According to Olisa, Christian also failed to live up to expectations.

In Olisa’s words “she has the power to take a song that has been heard countless number of times and making it her own”. Tee Songz was also in luck this week as Olisa said whatever he lacked in vocals he knew how to make up for it with style and confidence.
