Whew! Wizkid‘s name is on everyone’s lips now, from his rumored beef with “Omo Baba Olowo”, Davido to his Twitter bout with DRB Lasgidi’s Fresh L; from him touring overseas (he’s off to Dublin, Ireland soon) to his new music with his Record Label Exec, Akon.

So where do I start?

New Music With Akon!

Let’s kick this off on a positive note! Earlier during the week, Wizkid announced via Twitter that he’s steady at the studio trying to churn out more good music.

And, then, Akon endorsed his assertion with:

So I guess we’ll be hearing some new music from Wizkid very very soon and from the look of it, It’s going to be on an even more international scale than the “Pakurumo” crooner’s debut album singles.

“Omo Baba Olowo” Vs. Wizzy?

TheNETNG published an article earlier this week, talking about how 2 of Nigeria’s top Afro Pop artists, Davido and Wizkid are no longer in talking terms.

It is reported that a sort of “beef” has been spurned between the two artists and the source continues that the “beef” dates back to when D’Banj and Don Jazzy split. According to the article, artists had to choose camps and this resulted in a falling out between these two young stars.

“It all started with the news of D’banj signing Davido to his DB Records back in May 2012 – the news turned out to be false, but this obviously didn’t go down well with the ‘other camp.’ ‘You see Davido was very close to Don Jazzy and the Mo’hits squad before they parted with D’banj. When Jazzy heard Davido signed with D’banj, he wasn’t entirely happy’, a close friend of both camps tells NET.”

“Don Jazzy is said to have immediately told Wande Coal (who mentors both Wizkid and Davido) to stop visiting Davido at his Lekki home. Davido, at the time, was still recording his debut album and had plans to collaborate with Wande and Wizzy on separate songs. When Davido contacted Wande Coal, the pop singer’s management asked for an exorbitant fee (reportedly N1.5m) for the collabo. Sources say Davido was keen to get it done, but his manager Asa Asika was having none of it.  This ‘sudden policy’ led to a war of words between Asika and Wande’s manager Nana. The collabo never happened. Wande and Davido stopped talking and calling each other.”

“Davido moved on to record the much talked about duet with Wizkid. But when he sent the instrumental to the EME team, Wizkid, sources say, told them he couldn’t work with Davido on the song, saying the beat wasn’t up to standard and he didn’t want to lower his brand. Little did Davido know that it was his fight with Wande that made him (Wizkid) immediately take sides.”

The article goes on to talk about how far each artist has come in the industry, gives a little more insight on the alleged “beef” and reports that Davido‘s debut album’s first track, “All Of You” was inspired by these events. To get all the details and read the full article, {click here}

Wizkid’s Bout with Fresh L (of DRB Lasgidi)

DRB Lasgidi (Fresh L, TeeZee & Boj)

DRB Lasgidi is a rising Afro Pop group (made up of two rappers, Fresh L & TeeZee, and a singer, Boj of “Cruella” & Ajebutter22‘s “Omo Pastor” fame) who made their first splash with their DJ Caise-produced debut single, “Toyin”. But, in the past few weeks, as these rising starlets have gained public acclaim, so also has the controversy surrounding the group. First, they had a disagreement with DJ Caise which lead to their debut music video being removed from Youtube and now, one of their members, Fresh L has had a falling out with EME’s starboy, Wizkid. It is alledged that what instigated the Twitter bout was Fresh L‘s tweet:

And, soon after, came Wizkid‘s replies:

So also, came Fresh L‘s rebuttal:

Then, Wizkid ended the issue with:

And, Fresh L ended his side of the story with:

The DRBLasgidi crew forge on though, announcing a possible collaboration with Dr.Sid via Twitter:

So, what is your take on Wizkid‘s reactions in the above situations, from the falling out with Davido, to the verbal bout with Fresh L?

Nonetheless, I’m sure I speak for both of us when I say – I can’t wait to hear new music from the starboy, Wizzy.
