BN Style Exclusive: All You Need to Know about Yvonne Okoro’s Stunning 2013 AMAA Look – The Dress, Make-Up & Accessories

All eyes were on Bayelsa last month for the 2013 edition of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). Some of the biggest names in the African movie industry were present in their stylish outfits to see who will take home the top honours.

BellaNaija Style watchers had a field day with some of the risque and elegant looks from the red carpet. One of the best dressed celebrities of the night Yvonne Okoro, whose movie Contract was nominated in 6 categories, dazzled in a white long sleeve backless dress by Mark + James by Badgley Mischka.

The Dress

The colour white is often associated with brides around the world on their wedding days but from 2012, it became the must have colour. With Gwyneth Paltrow dazzling in a cape Tom Ford dress at the 2012 Academy Awards and Julianne Hough in a embellished Monique Lhuillier at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards, the Ghanaian actress wasn’t far behind.

Yvonne’s Mark + James by Badgley Mischka outfit seemed like the perfect choice. She exclusively told BellaNaija Style that “I chose it is because I love white and it had an ethereal feeling too.”

Hair & Make-Up

For her 2013 AMAA beauty look, Yvonne  teamed up with Annie Idibia’s make-up artiste Achiom Oyinka for her smouldering smoky eyes, highlighted eye brows and red lips.

Speaking on her hair, she tells us “I am a big fan of curly hair but never tried an all-back. So my hairstylist decided because it (Her dress) has a high neck, it would be better to show the earrings and the neckline of the dress.”

Accessories
A red carpet look is not complete without accessorizing. Yvonne Okoro styled the long sleeve floor length dress with a pair of diamond encrusted Tracy Lynn hoop earrings, a purple cocktail ring and an embellished purple Karen Millen clutch.

She says of her accessories “I decided to add a pop of colour”.
