Earlier this week, BN reported some authorities’ perspectives about why Nigeria has been having difficulty fighting terrorism.

Some of these viewpoints are that the Nigerian military is inadequately funded, and that the country’s multi-billion naira drones are obsolete. And now, U.S Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights, Sarah Sewall, is giving her opinion on the matter.

She says corruption is preventing Nigeria from stopping Boko Haram, Punch reports.

Sewall stated that despite Nigeria’s $5.8bn security budget for 2014, “corruption prevents supplies as basic as bullets and transport vehicles from reaching the front lines of the struggle against Boko Haram.”

She emphasized that in order for the Nigerian military to rescue the over 200 abducted Borno school girls, it must first find solutions to corruption and incompetence.
