Uk-based Swansea University was recently in Nigeria at Education Fairs in Port Harcourt, Calabar and Lagos. The team, led by Dr. Andrew Ubaka Iwobi of the College of Law, attended the fair which lasted from Sunday 27th April to Saturday 3rd May 2014, interacting with prospective under and post-graduate students.

They answered questions from those who made enquiries and counseled others regarding their course of study.

Speaking during the Lagos event, Dr. Iwobi who said SWANSEA is already home to a large number of Nigerian students rated the visit as very successful. “In Abuja, we were busy all day, I was working with a member of staff who worked with us, I couldn’t even stand up to go and get lunch, it was that busy. Lagos, even busier. I suppose it was fortunate that we came on a public holiday because there were very large crowds at the exhibition venue and we were busy all through the day. I suppose that’s a testimony to the reputation of the University because people who’ve studied there, they tend to recommend us to others and there is a high level of public awareness of the University in Abuja and Lagos, so whenever we are attend these events, we are overwhelmed by the response and this visit has been no exception.”

Speaking further Dr. Iwobi added that Swansea, which was recently voted the Overall Best University in the UK in the main award category of the prestigious WhatUni.com Student Choice Awards (WUSCA’s) 2014, is “a good solid traditional university and if you want to get away from the hurly burly of London and the larger cities, Swansea is an ideal location.
