Last month, it was reported that the Adamawa House of Assembly served the governor of the state, Murtala Nyako and his deputy, Bala Ngilari with an impeachment notice

As the threat of impeachment grows imminent, Governor Murtala Nyako, has declared today and tomorrow as work-free days, “to enable the citizens reflect on the situation in the state and Nigeria and to offer special prayers to God for intervention,” Vanguard reports.

According to reports, the 2-day “holiday” is to enable the Adamawa people offer thanksgiving to God for His grace in enabling them survive the numerous challenges they have faced. Also,  the special prayers are supposed to be held to seek God’s help in destroying the efforts of the state’s lawmakers and PDP, his former party, to impeach him.

Nyako is scheduled to visit the Appeal Court this week to challenge the Chief Judge’s decision to create a panel to investigate him, without first being served the impeachment notice, as stipulated by law.
