The impeachment panel organized to probe governor of Adamawa StateMurtala Nyako and his deputy, Bala Ngilari, held an inaugural meeting  in Yola on Monday.

You will recall that Nyako declared yesterday and today as work-free days, “to enable the citizens reflect on the situation in the state and Nigeria and to offer special prayers to God for intervention.” Some described the “public holiday” as a diversionary tactic employed by the governor to distract from the impeachment issue.

According to reports, the public holiday has not slowed down plans being made to impeach Nyako, according to Vanguard.

The seven-man impeachment panel reportedly met yesterday at J&J Holiday Villa in Yola, to begin the probe into the allegations of “gross misconduct,” leveled against the governor and his deputy.

The location is said to be heavily guarded by security. Journalists have also been prevented from covering the inaugural meeting.

Meanwhile, it is being reported that Nyako is considering resignation.

Ex Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, reportedly arrived in Yola yesterday to attempt to stop the impeachment from happening.
