The groom said he’ll marry her on the very first date. Now that’s conviction!

A year later the couple is sharing what they’ve learnt and sharing photos from a thanksgiving lunch to mark their anniversary and christening of their son. The baby dedication was held at the City of David, (RCCG) Victoria Island on the 17th of August and reception was at Mayumi Japanese Restaurant, where the couple had their engagement/pre-wedding dinner.

A year later… The Ogbebors 🙂dedication-anniv-the Ogbebors-921BellaNaija Weddings: How has married life been?
It’s been the best experience of our lives. It’s like having a live-in lover & friend. We’ve literarily become joined at the hip.
Uju: I can’t do anything without him.

Edosa: I don’t like taking decisions or going out without her. It’s funny – we were talking the other day and we’re saying to each other that we can’t remember what life was like before we met. Our marriage has overwhelmed everything else in our lives because it comes first.

BNW: What have you learned about each other in the past year?
Edosa: I knew my Cookie was a rare woman, but I never knew how rare until we started our life together. I’ve seen first-hand how selfless, loving, strong, hard-working and passionate she is.
Uju: I looooove being married to Edosa. I don’t think a day goes by that I’m not laughing my head off. I thought I knew Edosa when we got engaged, but now I can say that I KNOW him (even more than he knows himself – stop shaking your head, Edosa!) I know how determined, strong, hard-working, passionate, insightful, and intelligent Edosa is. He’s incredibly handsome too – Lol!! I keep patting myself on the back – Did good! **Nodding her head***

BNW: How do you keep the romance alive with a new baby?
Oh, romance with a baby is a challenge, but we’ve made it a policy to ALWAYS make time for each other, and it’s really not hard when you’re VERY attracted to each other. It just …. flows. Lol!
Uju: My Mother-in-Law once told me something wise – “Your 1st son is Edosa. Nathan is your 2nd son. As a woman you must cater to both”. So my role is to find a balance. I know what my Cookie Monster likes and I make sure he gets it. I also work on myself and make myself available whenever he needs me.

Edosa: We also keep it fresh. We never stop surprising each other. I know what Simbi likes and I make sure she gets it. For example, she loves flowers, so I don’t wait for a special occasion to surprise her with flowers. I can return from the gym on a Saturday morning with flowers for her.
Part of our romance is being best buddies. So we PLAY A LOT together. Sometimes we play wrestle so hard My Mother-in-law gets scared and jumps in or she’ll hold up Baby Na’e for him to watch us being silly.

BNW: How else has life changed since your bundle of joy?
Edosa: My boy – The Junior! A third person has joined our team – Welcome to the team, Baby Na’e! It’s no longer about me and Uju. Everything we do, we put him first now. We can’t just leave the house and be as carefree as we used to be. Now, we consider how our actions and decisions affect our little boy.
Uju: True, I think he’s even made our bond stronger. Sometimes we look at him and can’t believe this tiny being came from the both of us – (Yes, Edosa believes he too carried Nathan for several years before passing him on to me *rolls her eyes*).

BNW: Advice for newlyweds?
If we had to single out 2 keys for a successful marriage (from our limited experience) it would be – PATIENCE and COMMUNICATION. It is SO important. Never presume to know what your spouse means by what was said or how your spouse feels – ask and talk about it. COMMUNICATE – Talk about everything. If you don’t, your spouse will probably talk to SOMEONE ELSE about it and not only will that expose your “dirty laundry”, it will open Pandora’s Box – you know what I mean.

BNW: Advice for people seeking partners?
Don’t compromise. It is SO worth it to find the right person. Ok, we’re not saying the PERFECT person o because you will just wait tire! Find the right one – who makes you a better person, makes you smile, makes you content. Once you find him/her, work everything else out – whatever the challenge is.
