Police authorities in South Africa are investigating an Israeli citizen and two Nigerians who attempted to smuggle $9.3 million cash into the country.

The money was seized by the South African Revenue Service (SARS) at Lanseria airport in Johannesburg on September 5th, Reuters reports.

According to reports, the money which was transported from Abuja via a business jet, consisted of $100 bills and was packed in three suitcases.

When questioned, the three passengers reportedly told police that they intended to use the money to purchase arms for Nigerian security services.
