BREAKING: Building at T.B. Joshua’s Synagogue Church Collapses | Scores Feared Dead

synagogueA building at TB Joshua‘s Synagogue Church of all Nations in Ikotun, Lagos has collapsed. Scores who were in the building when it collapsed, are feared dead. The incident occurred at 2 p.m today.

According to reports, the multi-storey building is a guesthouse for church members who visit the church for spiritual assistance, ThisDay reports.

Ambulances and rescue personnel are said to be currently at the scene.

Sources say there was an ongoing construction at the top of the building to create more accommodation for worshippers.

The exact number of casualties is unknown at this time.

Update

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Saturday, said that 109 people trapped at the collapse building in Synagogue church have so far been rescued, while 16 dead bodies have been retrieved from the debris.

Ibrahim Farinloye, the Public Relations Officers of the agency confirmed this in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Many worshippers injured were rushed to Isolo and Alimosho General Hospital, while corpses were deposited at the mortuary.

NAN also reports that there are possibility that some people could still be trapped in the collapsed building, as rescue efforts were still on.

Farinloye said that members at first did not allow emergency rescue team to gain access to those trapped in the building until later.

“The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and NEMA are still searching to make sure that those still trapped in the building are rescued.

“We are still searching for those trapped in the building so the figure may increase later,” he said.
