Scotland has voted to remain a part of the United Kingdom after a vast majority of voters rejected independence.

There were 2,001,926 votes against independence, and 1,617,989 in favour, BBC reports.

David Cameron, UK Prime Minister, expressed great joy at the results, and pledged that “the three main unionist parties at Westminster would now follow through with their pledge of more powers for the Scottish Parliament.”

Cameron also promised to let the people of Northern Ireland, Wales, and England have a greater say over their affairs.
