2015 Elections: My Gender Cannot be Obstacle to my Success – Female Aspirant

Adenike Shobajo, an aspirant for the House of Representatives, Shomolu constituency, Lagos State, says her gender will not be a barrier to her success in the 2015 election.

Shobajo is seeking to contest on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

She told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday that humility and hard work were her strongest attributes in a male dominated society.

“If you work hard and show respect to others, you will be able to rise to a certain pedestal in life.

“My gender as a female has not limited me in any way in my political ambition because of my humility toward others,” she said.

The aspirant said that some of her friends bought the nomination form for her.

“Some friends of mine assisted me in getting the form and I am grateful to them for that. They believe in me and what I stand for.

“I stand for a change in the community; a change to improve the standard of living, better education and create youth empowerment programmes,” she said.

“I have been getting encouragement from different market associations in the community to contest again,” she said.

The aspirant said that leadership was all about service to the people and understanding the concept of reaching out to the grassroots.

According to her, the time for change has come, and that she is convinced that PDP will take over Lagos State in the 2015 election.
