Jourdan Dunn Becomes First Black Model to Land a Solo ‘Vogue’ UK Cover in the Last 13 Years
British fashion model Jourdan Dunn has made history as the first black model to land a solo cover for Vogue UK magazine, in the last 13 years.
The 24-year-old model was so excited and shared the news on her Instagram page along with a cover of the magazine that she is featured on.
She captioned ‘I’m so Happy to finally say I’M ON THE COVER OF BRITISH VOGUE!!!’ Thank you Patrick Demarchelier and Kate Phelan for making this happen and also thank you all for the Love and Support it means everything to me #2015YearOfTheDunn.’
The cover, which is for the February 2015 issue, shows a simple shot of Jourdan looking stunning sitting in the sunshine in a Prada SS15 short summer dress. For the shoot she was photographed by Patrick Demarchelier and styled by Kate Phelan.
The last time a black model was on the cover of Vogue UK was in 2012; over 146 covers ago with Naomi Campbell looking natural in jeans and a white vest shoot.
