Princess Simysola: My Letter to The Dreamer

Either through a flash of inspiration or through long nights of meditation and consultation, an idea is birthed.

Just as excited as a newly wedded bride, we are optimistic, confident, and expectant; we are ready to take-over the world with our dreams and visions, we are filled with so much excitement and enthusiasm as we begin to plan in our minds the reality of what we hope to come.

Some people make a lot of noise about it, boosting their morale to go forth in actions, while others simply keep their ideas to themselves carefully planning their actions.

The very lazy ones usually halt at the imagination phase, while others put some action into it – writing down our dreams and visions, steps to take, people to connect with, deadlines to meet up with, draw up our fancy budget for it.

But suddenly, we wake up to the sad reality that it is never as smooth as we hope it would be. Many times, the set deadlines are not met, no one else but us seem to be buying into our idea. Some don’t even understand the rationale behind it. Sometimes it’s the funds that keep us on a standstill, and it almost seems as though there are more closed doors than opened ones.

But even after all the challenges that stare at us in the face, some of us still forge ahead. We let nothing stop us, discourage us or make us quit, we keep going forward.

Truth be told, no one ever promised it would be easy. Some categorically stated it would be rocky. Even the Holy Book tells us that “even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death…” that tells me there would be times in our lives where the sun might not shine so brightly, and some days might be filled with gloomy & unpleasant circumstances. But through it all we must never fear, for God ALWAYS has our back!

I am reminded that failing, doesn’t qualify me to be called a failure, as I have only learnt how not to do something. In weird terms, failing can actually be a blessing.

So we must brace ourselves, make a resolve in our heart to keep moving forward, it may be in tiny steps, or huge long strides, but everyday strive to become a better person than the previous day.

All of the plans and visions may not happen in one day. Many times, the path of the journey is not always clear;  but we must trust the giver of the vision who has the blueprint of our lives to guide us accordingly and deliberately decide to acknowledge all of the blessings that happen, no matter how little or insignificant they might seem.

We must celebrate each moment and phase of our life; celebrating the people that worth much more that money can buy; we must celebrate the lessons learnt that school would never teach us.

For me, I have decided to go through each day remembering the excitement of my ‘eureka’ moment when the idea was birthed and keep forging ahead with optimism and confidence that even though I walk through the valley of challenges, I shall fear no failure, for I see victory & fulfillment at the end of the tunnel.
