According to several news sources including Premium Times, Senator Remi Tinubu (Bola Tinubu‘s wife) refused to accept Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s handshake on Wednesday, during the swearing-in of lawmakers on Wednesday.

Sources say a plausible reason for the alleged snub is because Bola Tinubu supported the candidacy of Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila for Senate President and Speaker of House of Representative respectively. However, his candidates lost to Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara, in a keenly contested election in which a faction of the APC showed loyalty Saraki and Dogara.
