Kashamu Withdraws N20 Billion Libel Suit Against Obasanjo
Embattled Ogun State senator, Buruji Kashamu, has withdrawn the N20billion libel suit he filed against former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Vanguard reports that Kashamu withdrew the suit due to ongoing “settlement talks” between him and Obasanjo.
According to reports, Kashamu initially filed the libel suit due to some content in Obasanjo’s autobiography, My Watch, that referenced issues contained in a letter Obasanjo wrote to former President Goodluck Jonathan and former National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, on December 2, 2013, where he alleged that Kashamu was a fugitive wanted in America.
You will recall that Kashamu was placed under house arrest by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) pending his appearance in court on for extradition proceedings – a case that is currently pending.
