On this feature, we’re bringing a combination beauty, spunk and academia! Meet Yetunde Odugbesan-Omede – college professor and women empowerment philanthropist. She is also a Faculty Member of Political Science at Rutgers University and Farmingdale State College where she teaches Comparative Politics, African Government and Politics, Women and Comparative Political Development, America and the World and Global Issues. She is also the author of Young Woman’s Guide.

What you do specifically?
I teach Comparative Politics, America and The World, Women in Comparative Political Development, Global Issues and African Government and Politics at the university level.

Core responsibilities
To teach college students various components of political science and global affairs.

I have been teaching at the university level for about three years now. In addition to being professor, I am also the CEO of Yetunde Global Consulting where I provide leadership development and training and organizational management for companies, non-profits, banks and institutions of education.

Highlights of your job
Being able to instill knowledge in young people and being a part of their professional and educational journey.

Downsides of your job
I love what I do, so what would be considered a downside to others is an advantage to me.

If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing?
I would be doing this and other things. When you work with passion and know your purpose…those things remain constant.

Morning prayer and start to get my day ready

6:30am:
Check and respond to emails

7am:
Shower and start getting ready

7:30am:
Cook breakfast

8am:
Wake up my son, get him ready

8:30am:
Eat breakfast and head out

9am:
Drops son off to school

9:30am:
Heads to the office

10:30am:
Usually attending a faculty meeting or another business related meeting

11am:
Business meeting calls with consulting clients

12am to 5:00 [MWF]
Teaching Political Science classes

6:00pm
Physical meeting with clients

7:00pm
Often dedicated to doing Young Woman’s Guide work or attending a business or professional event

7:30pm
If I am home, I put my son to sleep by 7:30 latest 7:45 pm.

8:00pm
Start rounding up the day. Of course still checking emails and responding which is an all days task.

9:00pm
I do relaxing exercises and yoga techniques.

10:00-1:00am
Writing briefs, client updates, often on a late conference call and grading papers

2:00am
I am starting to wind down and now heading to bed.

And the day begins again at 5/6am again. I have a great schedule which I am afforded that due to my profession as a professor, consultant and global speaker.
