Senator Dino Melaye vs Sahara Reporters over “leaked” Foreign Bank Statements

Yesterday, Sahara Reporters published a report accusing Nigerian senator Dino Melaye of violating Nigeria’s Code of Conduct for elected officials by operating a US Bank Account.

To support their claims, the online news outlet published Bank of America statements which they allege belong to Senator Melaye.

SR says “Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial District has since 2010 illegally operated bank accounts in the US, according to bank statements obtained by SaharaReporters.” Click to read the full report.

Responding to SR’s claims, the accused senator sent a series of tweets and retweeted supporters comments on the issue.

While Dino Melaye hinted that it may be an old statement, perhaps prior to his tenure as an elected official, Sahara Reporters claims that the transactions are as recent as December 4th.
