Commissioner for Science & Tech Hon. Olufemi Odubiyi, TECNO MD Chidi Okonkwo & More at the Unveiling of TECNO’s CSR Project “Light Up Ikeja”

Popular Ikeja electronics market “Ikeja Computer Village” definitely got an air of change on Thursday, 21st of January as dignitaries from  State and Local government, community and market leaders and members of the press, converged at the market ground to commission TECNO corporate social responsibility project.

Dubbed the “Light up Ikeja” project, TECNO telecoms limited (the registered company of TECNO Mobile) donated eighty eight (88) high end solar-powered streetlights, full installation by Arthur Energy Technology Ltd to its Ikeja host as a token of appreciation for years of peaceful co-existence.

Addressing guests in his opening speech the Managing Director TECNO telecoms limited, Chidi Okonkwo said TECNO will continue to invest in a broad spectrum of community-centric projects to better the lives people in its sphere of operations.

He stated “It is proven that private corporations with strong community focus in their business agenda tend to prosper better than the others…We’ll like to use this avenue to encourage other businesses and corporations in the area to show commitment to community development by spearheading projects that have lasting impact on the community.”  

The iFLUX engineered streetlights have a two year warranty cover and will enjoy maintenance for optimum operation by CarlcareTM, another subsidiary of TRASSION Holdings as is the TECNO Mobile and iFLUX brands.

According to Olufemi Odubiyi, the Honorable Commissioner for Science and Technology, “We’re elated as an agency to see what TECNO has done here today and we look forward to partnerships between private corporations like TECNO, who are community-centric and the government to bring life changing projects to the people.”

The height of the occasion was a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the Commissioner of Science and Technology, Honorable Olufemi Odubiyi, the TECNO MD, Chidi Okonkwo, representatives from the Local government area, community and market leaders and members of the press to mark the official commissioning of the project.
