Nigerian Astronaut to land in space by 2030 – Minister of Science and Technology shares his Plans

The Federal Government is putting structures on ground to make sure that at least a Nigerian astronaut lands in space on or before 2030.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, when the management team of the Defence Space Agency, led by the Director-General, Air Vice Marshal Victor Udoh, paid him a visit.

While addressing the team, the minister noted that Nigerians should not be excluded from visiting space, as it “is a major asset which nations like Nigeria must also be involved in for the purposes of protecting national interest.”

“The space programme,” the minister continued, “is very important for a country like Nigeria. The ministry will work very hard in the years ahead to strengthen all the structures of the agencies that will help us to ensure that the nation plays a role in the space.”

He also gave the assurance that the team would have the ministry’s support, while working with the agency in the best interest of the nation.
