The Inspector General of Police (IG), Solomon Arase has revealed that the Nigerian Police Force, in the last couple of years has spent about 600 million Naira for the importation of foreign dogs and now they will stop that in a bid to save money.

He made the statement today, Thursday at the inauguration of the Police Dog Breeding Centre and Ultra-Modern Mounted Troop in Abuja.

According to Arase, the Centre if effectively utilized has the capacity to supply dogs to the entire West African sub-Region. It would also save the country some foreign exchange that would have gone into the importation of dogs.

According to Vanguard, The Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau in his speech has said that the Centre will not just reduce spending, but provide jobs for other Nigerians aside from the police.
