Kaduna State/Nigerian Army Buried 347 People Killed in Shiite Clash in Mass Graves – Kaduna SSG

At the ongoing public hearing of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the December 12th Nigerian Army/Shiites Clash, the Secretary to the State Government of Kaduna State, Balarabe Lawal said that 347 people were killed, and the State Government buried them in mass graves.

According to Lawal, 191 corpses were taken from the Nigerian Army Depot, and 156 corpses were also conveyed from Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, ABUTH, both in Zaria and they were buried in a mass grave at the Mando area in Kaduna.

He also said that the burial was jointly supervised by the state government officials and about 40 men of the Nigerian Army, led by an officer with the rank of a Major.

Another witnesss, Namadi Musa who is the DG of the Kaduna Interfaith Agency said that the mass burial was authorised through a warrant of burial obtained from a Kaduna Chief Magistrate’s Court and was conducted on December 14th and 15th, 2015.

Others who appeared before the panel were Saratu Haruna, General Manager, Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority and Prof. Adamu Ahmed, Deputy CMD, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital.
