UNILAG Shuts Down Indefinitely as Students Protest Fuel Scarcity, Poor Electricity & More

Unilag ShutdownThe leadership of the University of Lagos on Thursday, suspended all academic activities in the school, giving the students ill 10 AM on Friday April 8th to vacate the halls of residence.

The Management of the school in a statement titled “Immediate Closure of The University of Lagos” said that the decision was reached so as to “prevent further breakdown of law and order on campus”occasioned by the ongoing agitation by the student body over poor electricity and water supply in the community, and the difficulty faced by students living outside the school campus to attend classes because of the ongoing fuel crisis.

Unconfirmed reports say that the the student union executives are being rounded up by security agents.

A tweet by the handle @unilagpressclub read “News getting to us says the ULSU (University of Lagos Student Union) president, Mohammed Olaniyan has been arrested”
