Your greatest wish on a travel day would most likely be good weather, especially if you’re looking at exploring your destination and interacting with the natives. This very day started out like every other day, and but for the shuffling feet, moving baggage, and excited tourists, it could have passed for one.

The drive to from Lagos to Ibadan on Thursday, June 16th 2016 with VJ Adams, did nothing to dampen the excitement that seemed to emanate from the team of travelers, also not forgetting the sole purpose of the trip, showing the city through the lens of the Camon C9 which captures amazing selfies and pictures. 4 cities will be visited; Enugu, Abuja, Calabar and Lagos.

After about two hours on the road, we reach the city, and our first sight was the historical tobacco house… Our itinerary names our first stop as the zoo at the University of Ibadan, and that’s where we’re headed.

The sun is now overhead, and the day is looking gay. As we breathe the humid air in and out, we couldn’t get past the historical monuments every turn in the city had, from the shekere statue to the corn hub, the traditionally dressed man beating on his drum and the other dude playing on the horns, the city reeked of stories folded neatly underneath a rubble of curiosity, you had to be very interactive and instinctual to unfold its many layers. The lunch we had seemed to be settling, and we were happy to indulge our tour thirsts.

At the zoo, we had some fun exploring the eclectic mix of animals. From the beautiful ducklings to the amazing giraffe with its uncanny ability to make a grand entrance that had us all entrapped. It was also at the zoo, that we found the love bird home that had no bird in it, and someone humorously mentioned that this had to be the cause of the many heart broken folks in the world suffer.

Standing out among the many colourful sights and sounds of the city was also the Agodi Gardens; a serene 62 hectare property located off Parliament Road. The Garden, a stylish, modern and beautifully designed place, that blends effortlessly with nature, with its many features like the mini-zoo, lake, and beautiful walkways, stands out as a scenic place for the perfect getaway for everyone. Our crew had a wonderful time taking in the scenic view of the Gardens, talking to other tourists and making wonderful memories with the Camon C9.

We retired after a long day, and couldn’t wait to get started the next day.

The beautiful skyline ushered us into a new day in Ibadan, with our team of travelers eager to set out to explore more sights after a well-rested night. Headed straight for the interview we had scheduled for that morning, we talked about our plans in Ibadan, and what we hoped to achieve.

Moving on to Mapo Hall, a City Hall built many years back with the intention to create an interaction between the state and the average civilian, the magnificent structure had us all awestruck. Looking out over Ibadan, on top of the Mapo Hill, in the heart of Oyo state, we find the energetic pace of the capital’s business area extremely contagious.

Before now, our experience with Ibadan had been limited to the admiration of the city’s famous look for its brown coloured roofs, gotten from many years of wear and tear on iron sheets that could date as far back as when the definition of style was more about the number of lines on a woman’s face… And so, we were extremely awed to realize that there was more to Ibadan than the famous brown roofs.

When we moved on to Bower’s Tower, it started to look like every beautiful sight in Ibadan was located on a hill. The tower sits beautifully at a strategic position where you can catch a beautiful view of the city itself. The climb was amazing. The Tower had quite a number of historic representations, and prided itself as a communal haven. Owing to its relaxing aura, it has served and continues to serve as a refuge for folks.

After treating ourselves to a sumptuous Amala meal that was exclusive to Ibadan, we set out for Owo town, to cut our journey to Abuja by a few hours. These pictures captured with the Camon C9 tell a story of the wonderful time we had in Ibadan.
