“I did very well to curtail corruption” – Goodluck Jonathan on “Bloomberg Surveillance” | Watch

Former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan speaking on Bloomberg Surveillance” said that during his tenure as president, he did very well to curtail corruption.

Jonathan who earlier gave a speech which he titled “‘Civis Nigerianus Sum’ – I am a Citizen of Nigeria” at the Bloomberg Studios (Click here to read it) said that his approach to curtailing corruption was, “don’t make money available for anybody to touch”.

He also disclosed that the present administration did not inherit an empty treasury, saying that if it was so, they will not be able to release bailout funds to states.

On whether he is worried that he’ll come under investigation for corruption, Jonathan said, “obviously I will be investigated… and I’m being investigated…. Investigations are going on”.

Asked if the investigators will find anything bad, he noted that it is not proper to make comments on that, saying the government should be allowed to do its work.
