Meet Alhaja Asiata Adupe – The Oldest Person Living with Sickle Cell at 90

The average lifespan for people living with sickle cell as at 1973 was 14 years, but currently, the life expectancy of sickle cell patients can be up to 50 years and over.

BattaBox presenter Odunayo interviews Alhaja Asiata Adupe Onikoyi Laguda, the oldest person living with sickle cell in the world. She talks about life as a sickle cell patient and how she’s been able to overcome it so far.

Alhaja Laguda turned 90 on November 1st 2015 and was celebrated as the worlds oldest person living with sickle cell. Her major advice for parents who have children living with sickle cell “Give them balanced diet and don’t let them have mosquito bites”.
