The Ekiti state workers’ Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) has declared a three-day fasting and prayer session over the ongoing industrial action by the labour unions.

This was contained in a statement signed by the secretaries of the Nigeria Labour Congress, O. P. Olayemi; the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, J.A. Adebayo; and Joint Negotiating Council, Oladele Ayodeji.

According to PUNCH, the statement read in part:

In view of the current situation in Ekiti State as regards the ongoing strike embarked on by the entire workers in Ekiti State, all workers in Ekiti State are invited to a three-day fasting and praying session from Tuesday June 14th to Thursday, June 16th.

It is expected that this should be replicated at all the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State.

Recall that Governor Ayo Fayose earlier this month said he has placed himself on indefinite strike in solidarity with the workers.
