19-year-old American gymnast, Simone Biles has won the women’s all round olympic gold.

She scored 62.198 to win her second Olympic medal by a margin of more than two points.

U.S’ Alexandra Raisman got silver and Russia’s Aliya Mustafina third.

Biles had also led the United States to victory in the team event.

Biles still has the opportunity to leave Rio with five gold medals. She will compete in the finals of the vault, balance beam and floor exercise.

Biles is the first woman to win three consecutive world all-around titles. Biles is also the most decorated American female gymnast in World Championships history, with a total of fourteen medals, ten of them gold.

Biles’ story is an inspiring one, being that her birth mother, Shanon Biles gave her and her siblings up for adoption when she was 6 years old due to her (Shanon) drug and alcohol addiction.

Shanon’s father and stepmother, Ronald and Nellie Biles, who had two nearly-adult sons, Ron Jr. and Adam, began temporarily caring for Shanon’s children in 2000, in the north Houston suburb of Spring, Texas.

In 2003 the couple officially adopted the two youngest children, Simone and Adria, and Ronald’s sister adopted the two eldest. Simone’s grandparents were responsible for taking her and her sister, Adria, out of foster care and giving them the stability they needed.

Speaking to Omnisport, Simone who is regarded as one of the best gymnast of all time said:

I’ve finally done it. It’s so exciting. You never know the feeling until it hits you. “I’m not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps. I’m the first Simone Biles.

The floor was my best moment. I’m excited for the other finals now. I had to remind myself to keep doing the routines we practiced. I’m so relieved.

Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton and Reality TV star, Kim Kardashian, have congratulated Biles on her victory.

Kim wrote on her website:

Simone and her teammate Aly Raisman just competed in the All-Around finals, and they took home 1st and 2nd places respectively!!! Simone is just SO insanely talented and has worked so hard to get where she is.

Congratulations, Simone! You are killing it and you’re such an inspiration to us all. On top of being one of the best athletes ever, you bring such a positive radiant energy to everything you do—it really shines through. North and I will be watching as you continue to kill it!

XOXO.
