Man Arrested for Allegedly Beating His 10-year-old Son to Death in Ogun

The Ogun Police Command has arrested a 37- year –old man, Rasak Adekoya for allegedly beaten his 10- year- old son, Wariz to death.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, told newsmen in Abeokuta on Tuesday that the suspect allegedly committed the offence at Ijebu -Igbo on Oct. 11.

“The suspect was arrested by policemen attached to Ago-Iwoye Division on Monday following a tip- off from some residents of Ijebu-Igbo. The residents accused the man of subjecting the deceased to excessive beating over allegation of stealing. Several marks were seen on the body of the deceased which confirmed torture,” he said.

Oyeyemi explained that the corpse had been deposited at St. Joseph Catholic Hospital Mortuary, Oke-Agbo, Ijebu-Igbo for an autopsy.

He said that the case had been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigations.

Oyeyemi said that the suspect would be arraigned in court after the conclusion of investigations on the matter.
