Former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, has landed in Nigeria to honour an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to THISDAY, Obanikoro, who has been in the U.S for over a year, had refused to come back to Nigeria until a formal invitation was sent to him. He on Monday morning and headed straight to the EFCC office in Abuja.

The report stated that sources claimed that the former High Commissioner to Ghana, refused to come back given the commission’s penchant for disregarding the rule of law.

Also, Obanikoro, sources claim, decided to come back after he received an email from Hillary Clinton‘s Campaign Group, following Donald Trump‘s statement that he would jail her if he becomes president.

“Muhammed, last night, Donald Trump said that if he were elected president, he’d target Hillary and said she would be in jail if he were in charge. Threatening to jail political opponents isn’t what we do in America, Muhammed. Those are the words of totalitarianism,” the email reportedly read.

This, the report stated, moved Obanikoro to come and clear his name.

He is reported to be represented by Lawal Pedro and James Onoja, who are Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN).
