Aunty Bella: Mr. What Can I Do to Survive?

Hi Aunty Bella,
I’m not one that shares my personal problems on social media but I’m doing this as a last resort.
I am 28-years-old, educated, focused and hardworking but can’t get work.
Back in 2015 I resisted the temptation of overstaying my visa and returned back to Nigeria from the UK where I went for studies.

Before my return, as with most graduates the only thing on my mind was to get a job and hopefully start building a career. Even though I knew how tough things were in Nigeria, I returned with high hopes thinking I would have an edge with my foreign certificate and exposure. I was so horribly wrong!

With a 2:1 in Agriculture (Soil Science), Masters in Soil/Environmental Science and certifications in TV presenting which happens to be my other passion, all I can settle for right now is a job where my salary can barely cater for my monthly bills.

I may have obtained my Masters abroad but I’m by no means from a rich background so I don’t have all the connections.

I have been applying for jobs and have even worked for free but haven’t been lucky to land a decent full time job. Besides Environmental/Soil science and media, I am happy to do anything that stimulates me especially if it is communications related.

I get it when people advocate entrepreneurship, but I don’t have that spirit if I’m being honest, at least not now in my life. I’m happy with a monthly take home.

Dear BN family, I don’t know what else to do.
