Police has arrested Jeff Lytle, 42, from Washington for allegedly trying to murder his Filipino wife, Rhoda Mee Funtanilla Lytle, and four year old daughter.

According to PEOPLE, Lytle, a father of two mistakenly sent a message to his former boss, thinking it was to a hitman requesting the murders of his wife and daughter.

The former boss who received the text on February 7th, notified Snowhomish County Sheriff’s Office.

He was thereafter arrested on two counts of criminal solicitation for first-degree murder.

He remains in police custody on $1 million bail and court records indicate he has yet to enter a plea to the charges he faces.

In the message, Lytle allegedly said: “Hey Shayne how’s it going. You remember you said that you would help me kill my wife. I’m going to take you up on that offer.”

Lytle went onto explain that the reason he wanted his wife killing was for her $1 million life insurance that he was willing to split ’50/50′ with the killer.

“Life insurance is worth 1 million (and there’s a bonus if) you can kill my four-year-old daughter. If you can make it look like a robbery gone wrong or make it a accident she works at Walmart she gets off at 11:00. I’ll split everything with the insurance 50/50.” the message read.

According to police, Lytle initially denied the message was from his phone, later admitted to authoring the text. He said the message was his way of “venting” his anger at his wife, the affidavit alleges.

Lytle told police he knows no one named “Shayne,” and that the text in question was written months ago following an argument he had had with his wife. He allegedly told investigators he usually deletes these cathartic messages, and theorized his daughter may have sent the message after discovering it in his “Drafts” folder, reads the affidavit.

According to the criminal complaint, Lytle’s wife told police the couple had been married for seven years and that she was aware of no marital distress. She said the couple have been struggling financially as Lytle has been out of work.
