#AMVCA2017: BellaNaija Style presents our Best Dressed List from the 2017 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards!

The 2017 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards happened Saturday night and the red carpet was on fire that night at the Eko Hotel Convention Center! All the celebrities came to slay but only a few can make it on the BellaNaija Style Best Dressed List. It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for, here are our top picks from the #AMVCA2017 Red Carpet Fab.

Best Dressed Ladies

We noticed a few trends on the AMVCA 2017 red carpet. Our fair ladies chose to flaunt toned shoulders with asymmetric sleeves and backless cuts, sexy legs with thigh high slits and ball gowns fit for a princess.

Look at that colour on Ivie, did you see her on the red carpet? The actress stood out of the crowd in this orange dress by DZYN which had black floral adornments on the both shoulders, a chest cut-out and thigh high slit between the cascading full skirt. She looked perfect!

Nana Akua Addo

The Ghanaian princess that came to slay! Nana’s dress by Philipino fashion designer and creative director Leo Almodal was everything on the red carpet. The cappuccino coloured dress again her rich skin made the perfect complimenting contrast and the embellishments all over the dress made the look nothing short of regal.

Rukky Sanda

Rukky’s red carpet style was all sorts of sexy this year. The stunning actress wore this burgundy dress in a mermaid silhouette with long off-shoulder sleeves and straps across her shoulder. With a sleek, center part pony-tail and sultry smokey eye, Rukky killed it!

Somkele Idhalama

Never one to disappoint on the red carpet, Somkele wore a stunning dress by her sister, designer Andrea Iyamah. A high neckline here, an exposed shoulder there and a sexy thigh-high slit was all she needed in this mulberry coloured dress to make it on our best-dressed list.

South African songstress, Lira took the AMVCA red carpet like a ray of sunshine in this floaty yellow dress by fashion designer, Gert-Johan Coetzee. The halter neck dress featured yellow lace cut-outs on the neckline, a metalic waitband and a long train behind.

Beverly Naya

Beverly was the epitome of sexy and chic on the AMVCA 2017 red carpet. She an embellished halter neck ball gown with a plunging cut-out in the center of the bodice. The dress by designer Weiz Dhurm Franklyn also featured a peplum details on the wait with a few floral ornaments placed on the side of the floor length frock.

Sika looked so pretty in this lovely dress also by Weiz Dhurm Franklyn. The dress had embellished long cold-shoulder sleeves and plunging neckline. Such a gorgeous girl!

Body and dress on point as always, Lilian came to slay on the red carpet in the green number by Roney Arewa clothing, styled by Moashy Styling. She wore a long sleeve, off shoulder dress in a green fabric that made her sparkle across the carpet as though the was covered in fairy dust. So chic!

Adesua Etomi

The gorgeous award-winning actress wore a dress by stellar designer Mai Atafo of Weddings by Mai Atafo. The dress featured embellished floral petals and embroidered leaves. The criss-cross, maroon coloured straps along the waistline, the back of the dress and on sweetheart neckline made the perfect contrast against the powder pink colour of Adesua’s ensemble.

The fashionista and TV presenter/host of EbonyLife TV‘s The Spot, definitely brought that bit of edge to the AMVCA red carpet this year in this lush dress by Onalaja, an LFDW favourite on the runway.

A vision in colour, Toni’s dress was a princess’ dream! Her dress by Yemi Shoyemi of SOA Concept featured a sweetheart neckline and a play on textures with a pleated chiffon bodice and ruched chiffon skirt in the same rich magenta hue, perfect against Toni’s skin.

Hello love in yellow! The Northern belle looked stunning on the AMVCA red carpet and she blew us away in this dress by Fouad Sarkis Couture styled by Enthyst Fashion Klinik. The dress with a sweetheart neckline featured pink ornaments along the bodice of the dress with a draping skirt.

The statuesque actress looked chic in this dress by Victoria Funmi Lakanu Label. The blue overlay skirt made the perfect addition to the print column/pencil dress underneath, and the sexy single strap on this sleeveless dress gave it the right amout of edge – saving it from being just any old streapless dress.

Style by Tolu Labby of 2207, Toyin wore a lace ball gown in a pretty blush colour. An embellished waistband was added to the waistline of the dress, adding a bit of sparkle to the strapless dress, making her waist the focal point of the overall look.

Another edgy fashionista on the red carpet was actress and model, Makida. The talented lady looked stunning in her blue fringe dress by Fruche. The look was a modern twist on the 1920’s flapper girl look with a fringe skirt and multiple cut outs on the bodice.

DSF as she’s popularly called wore a stunning black mermaid cut dress by House of Jahdara. with styling by Moashy Styling. The dress featured a lace cut out detail, starting from the left sleeve down to the left side of the bodice, with strategically placed embellishments covering the actresses “lady parts” on the lace.

The AMVCA 2017 red carpet saw the rise of Chioma as on of our style stars of the night. The actress wore a black, floor-length gown by Shakara Couture with silver grey lace forming the top layer of the skirt, one-shoulder sleeve, and bodice of the dress.

Minnie’s look is a perect example of simplicity that never fails. When in doubt, go with a black number in a sillhouette that will always be flattering to your curves. They say two heads are better that one, we to us at BN Style, two lovers in stylish outfits are better than none! Here, we’re like to spotlight some of the couples who slayed together on the red carpet with their outfit choices.

Funny lady Funke and her husband JJC looked great together on the red carpet. Funke wore a gold dress by Ayo Van Elmar and the way her hubby helped her arrange her dress on the red carpet was just heart warming, we love a king who’d go the extra mile to make his queen shine.

Comedian AY Makun and his wife Mabel always slay together on the red carpet and the AMVCA 2017 was no exception. Mabel wore an outfit by Tiannah Styling styled by Toyin Lawani of Tiannah Styling and AY wore an outfit by G Bespoke by Gbolahon.

Osas and Gbenro didn’t disappoint this year with their red carpet looks, we liked the unifying African theme between the two, with Gbenro’s tribal print blazer by Makky Designer and Osas’ modern take on a tribal look by Wana Sambo.

The suave gentlemen brought their A-game to the red carpet this year, giving us a variety of looks. From the African outfits to the dapper suits and tuxedos in the classic blacks to out of the ordinary colours like mustard and magents, these are the well dressed men that made it on the list.
