Man Accidentally cuts off 8-months old Step-grandson’s Genital during Circumcision

One Keke Ziworitin, a 59-year old man in the coastal community of Ondewari in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa state has mistakenly cut off half his step-grandson’s penis while trying to circumcize him.
Sources say Ziworitin has been performing circumcision for years and had told the victim’s mother to bring her son for circumcision.
The victim’s father Joseph Michael, said he wasn’t aware the child was being taken for circumcision as his wife did not inform him.
Michael said he knew about it when the news came that his son’s genital has been cut off.
“After cutting off my boy’s penis, he told my wife to leave the child with him for at least three weeks so that he could treat him. But my wife refused because the boy was bleeding and she rushed him to a health centre,” Michael said.
The eight-month old child was later transferred to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa.
