In an interview with the New York Times, US President Donald Trump spoke about not being able to discuss with the first lady of Japan Akie Abe beside whom he sat at a G20 conference because she does not speak English.

He said, “So, I was seated next to the wife of Prime Minister Abe, who I think is a terrific guy, and she’s a terrific woman, but she doesn’t speak English.”

The interviewer asked: Like, nothing, right? Like zero?

Trump said: “Like, not ‘hello’.”

But it turns out Akie Abe does speak English.

A video on YouTube shows first lady Abe giving an entire keynote speech in English at the High‐Level Symposium on Coastal Resilience: The Road to Sendai on October 2, 2014.

Abe, who used to be a DJ, also worked for one of the largest advertising agencies in the world Dentsu Inc.
