"What do fans actually benefit from celebrities in Nigeria?"No doubt, fans contribute a whole lot the the advancement of any celebrity. From buying their works to getting tickets for their shows or meet and greets, fans are help to encourage/reward celebrities for their work.

A BellaNaijarian sent this in and is wondering what fans get in return for being a loyal follower.

As a fan of so many celebrities, there is this thing that keeps occurring to me; how exactly do Nigeria celebrities reach out to their fans? What do fans actually benefit from celebrities in Nigeria?

As a celebrity, your fans are basically set of strangers you don’t know but one way or the other they have contributed to you becoming what you are today. If you an artist, no matter how much song you produce, if people don’t listen to it, you really can’t get anywhere or become famous as you are now. The same is applicable to you been an actor or whatever position you are which makes you a famous person today.

Fans are the ones who keeps getting the worse insult from celebrities, they are the same set of people following you on social networks, they are still the same people buying or listening to your songs, watching your movies all the time… but what do they get in return? What do these fans benefit? Can you even mention any Nigeria celebrity who is at least following back a fan on any social media? Basically none! Why? Because they see you as less important. Or it’s of no use. Some fans will even argue, beat themselves up, and the likes over people that don’t even know you neither do they care about you. So why bother? Why get so interested in their affairs?

Have you get to wonder why there are so many scams here and there on social media using the name of some celebrities to get followers and all of that..it is because this celebrities hardly have time for their fans, not even for a second and so some fans see it as opportunity to use their names to reach out to people who are so obsessed about a certain celebrity.

Imagine Don Jazzy or Adesua Etomi was following you… just you alone as a fan. Will you ever want to misuse the opportunity or privilege by blackmailing them? Nope. You will even want to tell other people to follow the real page… probably they might be lucky too… to be followed.

Seriously, this trend really needs to be looked at. Nigeria celebrities need to at least make their fans feel they have been part of their success in one way or the other by at least reaching out to them on social media.

Even in schools, to invite a celebrity, he/she charges a very high price and still come to the occasion late, perform for two minutes or less and then disappears. Never gives time to even take pictures with fans and all. And you have collected a huge amount of money. This is really unfair on the part of most celebrities. Please the case should be reversed at least.
