IPOB is not a terrorist organization – US Government

The US Government has said that it does not recognize the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist organization.

According to Vanguard, the United States Government has said that according to the parameters by which a terrorist organization is determined, IPOB does not fit.

It said that although the US is in favor of solving the internal crisis in Nigeria, it cannot pronounce the secessionist group as a terrorist organisation.

Both the Federal Government and the Nigerian military have pronounced the group as a terrorist organization.

It was said that the members of the group had used “stones, molotov cocktails, machetes, and broken bottles on a military patrol on September 10, 2017.”

Leader of the group, Nnamdi Kanu had challenged the court order proclaiming the group as a terrorist organization.
