Lisa Bloom resigns as Harvey Weinstein's Legal Advisor following Sexual Harassment ScandalU.S. attorney Lisa Bloom has resigned as legal adviser to Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein amidst sexual harassment allegations the latter is facing.

Bloom made the announcement Saturday morning, saying she has learned Weinstein and his board are moving toward an agreement.

She wrote on Twitter: “I have resigned as an advisor to Harvey Weinstein. My understanding is that Mr. Weinstein and his board are moving toward an agreement.”

Bloom had been under scrutiny for being an advisor to an alleged sex offender, when she almost always represents victims.

She had earlier released a statement on the nature of her contract with the producer.

New York Times had published an exposé about the producer having a 30-year history of sexual harassment, including statements from some of the alleged victims.

The report also revealed that over the years, Harvey Weinstein has reached several settlements to cover his tracks including “an assistant in New York in 1990, an actress in 1997, an assistant in London in 1998, an Italian model in 2015”.

The producer had also issued an apology statement following the accusations. He wrote:

“I came of age in the 60’s and 70’s, when all the rules about behavior and workplaces were different. That was the culture then. I have since learned it’s not an excuse, in the office – or out of it…. Though I’m trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go. That is my commitment. My journey now will be to learn about myself and conquer my demons. Over the last year I’ve asked Lisa Bloom to tutor me and she’s put together a team of people. I’ve brought on therapists and I plan to take a leave of absence from my company and to deal with this issue head on.”
