Protesters in Kano demand for release of El-Zakzaky | WATCH

Nigeria has recently seen a rise in protests by supporters of jailed Shia cleric Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky. Protests follow reports that Sheikh Zakzaky’s health is deteriorating in detention.

Sheikh Zakzaky is the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria. He was arrested in 2015 during an army raid on his residence. The raid left hundreds of his followers killed and many wounded.
