Walking Stick

The Walking Stick is the story of Professor N. T. Ciroma (played by theatre veteran Ayo Lijadu), a lecturer who abandons his young family in Lagos in pursuit of his ivory tower career in the North. Unable to cope well in his absence, his wife Fatimo (played by Nollywood veteran Tina Mba), sends their twin children, Latif (played by comic and academic, Tunji Sotimirin), and Titi (played by Caroline Nzelu) to live separately with a maternal and a paternal grandmother, while she struggles to survive on her own.

As fate would have it, the family grew apart and lost touch. Fatimo eventually succumbs to the sometimes-harsh socio-economic realities of Lagos life, and finds herself stuck in an unwanted sluttish and menial existence, while Latif becomes a local government executive cum thug, and Titi becomes a chemist cum street hustler.

A defining moment is the very dramatic circumstances which bring all of them to a venue where Professor Ciroma is giving a lecture on drug addiction and the consequences of dysfunctional family units.

With a rich spectacle of beautiful music, breath-taking choreography and exquisite costumes, The Walking Stick is a trove of never-to-be-forgotten experiences. You have to see it to experience it for yourself.

The play opens on Friday, February 16th at Terra Kulture, 1376, Tiamiyu Savage Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. For your tickets, visit Terra Kulture, or buy online at http://www.afritickets.com/event/the-walking-stick#
